March greetings to our Thomas families,

Thomas students are incredible. They consistently demonstrate our 4 Pillar values and help create a positive, supportive learning culture. I am always impressed with the way they carry themselves at school.

As our students continue to grow, the partnership between school and family is more important than ever. Please join us in encouraging your child to show their best selves and do their best work, both at school and at home.

As parents and educators, we set the tone for how our children learn, grow, and treat others. Together, we can help them strive for excellence in all they do.

Positive and open communication with our children is essential to their growth and development. Consider setting aside time to have a meaningful conversation with your family about the following topics.

Respect: The 4th R

Respect helps our children build strong relationships at school and at home. As families and adults, we play an important role in helping students understand what respectful behavior looks like.

1) Communicate Examples of Respect
Point out respectful actions, such as knocking before entering a room or staying quiet during a performance. Gently identify disrespectful behaviors too, like whispering during a concert, and talk about better choices.

2) Model It
Children learn by watching us. When we treat them with respect by avoiding embarrassment and honoring their privacy, they are more likely to show that same respect to others.

3) Set Clear Limits
Make it clear that disrespect is not acceptable. If your child becomes upset and responds rudely, suggest taking a short break and let them know you’ll talk when they’re calm. Consistent boundaries help shape positive behavior.

Working together, we can help our Thomas students make respect a daily habit at school and at home.
