Thomas MS Families, thank you for your students. They are a source of inspiration for our staff every day.
Principal and Parents Coffee and Conversation is on Wednesday, October 22nd at 10:15 a.m. in the library.
The following are helpful strategies that support students to be good learners. Discuss these at home with our student.
- active listening
- taking good notes
- asking questions
- review notes every day
- completing assignments
- attendance is critical to academic success
- a ready to learn mindset
Thomas is a secure building; this means that all outside doors and classrooms are locked. When entering the building please have your ID ready to check in at the main office. This is a protocol to keep all students and staff safe.
Student Grades: Grades serve as a communication tool to reflect student achievement in relation to the learning goals set by state standards. They are based on evaluative assessments conducted periodically throughout the quarter and semester, ensuring that the grades accurately reflect the students' understanding and progress in the specific content area and subject they are studying.
Cell Phones: A note on electronics at school. Review the cell phone policy with your student. Cell phones are not a resource for learning at school. Students may use their cell phone before school, during lunch, and after school. Students are expected to keep cell phones turned off and in backpacks during all other times during the school day.
Laptops are a resource for learning at Thomas. Please discuss with your student proper care and use of the laptop that has been checked out to them and are responsible for. I highly encourage you to purchase laptop insurance through the district if you haven't done this yet.
Impact Aid Survey
The 2025-26 federally required Impact Aid annual surveys will be sent to families through email on Tuesday, Oct. 1, with a link to the survey for each student. Please complete the survey by Friday, Oct. 31.
These surveys are confidential, and your participation is essential for Clover Park School District students and staff. Completing the survey helps our district receive federal Impact Aid funding, which directly supports our schools by providing teachers, support staff, classroom computers, library books, and other vital supplies and equipment.
ParentSquare Launch
We are excited to announce that Clover Park School District is now using ParentSquare, a new communication platform designed to improve how families stay connected with our schools.
ParentSquare allows families to receive school and district updates all in one convenient place through the ParentSquare app or website. You will continue to receive phone calls, emails, and texts, but now you can also access all your notifications, event reminders, and school alerts in one central hub.
We believe a strong family and school relationship is vital for student success. Please partner with us as we teach students to see themselves as lifelong collaborative learners who demonstrate great character and leadership at school, at home, and in the community.
A few school areas to highlight at Thomas:
- Thomas has a strong student leadership elective where over 100 of our Titans are learning how to be positive leaders.
- Orchestra, Band, and Choir students are learning and growing in their performing arts skills.
- Throughout the day students are learning strategies that will help them be successful academically, socially, and develop college-ready skills.
- Core academic classes are taught by committed teachers who focus on our Titans growing and achieving academically.
- Thomas has a full complement of support classes with amazing students in Life Skills, Functional Academics, Success, and Resource.
- Thomas students learn and experience new skills in Career and Technical Education classes.
- Heritage Spanish and Heritage Math are offered for students choosing to take a second language course.
- Art classes develop students’ creative skills using a variety of materials.
- Our Physical Education department teaches students to learn the importance of being physically fit, and how physical activities lead to a well-balanced lifestyle.
- Thomas school counselors support our students both academically and emotionally.
- Students have access to our three grade level counselors. We also have two Military Family Life Counselors, Greater Lakes Mental Health, and Cohen Military Family Counseling services.
- Our Health center provides nursing services to our Titan students.
- Titan YMCA Center has many after-school activities throughout the school year. Families will use FinalForms to provide parent approval for attending after school activities for their children.
- After school sports programs offer students the opportunity to learn and develop skills that can support Thomas’s 4 Pillar values.
We are especially grateful for our families serving in the military at JBLM and around the world. We wish safety and good health to all our Thomas families.
