CTMS Principal Message –August 2026

Welcome back, Titans!

Welcome to Dr. Claudia Thomas Middle School. I am honored to serve as your new principal and cannot wait to meet each and every one of you. This year our theme is The Year We Build Together. Together, we'll foster strong relationships and meaningful learning experiences to build a school where every student feels they belong and can succeed.

Our teachers are spending the first weeks of school establishing strong routines and creating engaging classrooms where students can thrive all year long.

This year we will continue to focus on our Titan Traits:

• Respectful
• Responsible
• Ready to Learn
• Compassionate

Each month starting in September, students will participate in a Titan Trait Challenge that highlights one of these important values. Students who demonstrate the monthly Titan Trait throughout the school, in classrooms, hallways, the cafeteria, and other learning spaces will earn PBIS points and be recognized for their positive choices.

Throughout the year, our staff and students will work together to define what each Titan Trait looks like in every part of our school community. By creating shared expectations and celebrating positive behaviors, we will continue building a safe, welcoming, and supportive environment where every student can learn and thrive.

Important Back-To-School Events

Middle School Jump Start

Monday, August 10th and Tuesday, August 11th

8:30 am –12:30 pm

All incoming sixth-grade students are invited to begin their middle school journey by meeting staff and classmates, learning about Dr. Claudia Thomas Middle School, touring the building, and preparing for a successful first year as a Titan.

Titan Take Off

Monday, August 31st

10:00 am –2:00 pm

Students can stop by to receive their schedules, tour the school, ask questions, and become familiar with the building before the first day.

The First Day of School

Wednesday, September 2nd

9:00 am –3:30pm

The first day of school is one of the most important days of the year. Student attendance helps us build classroom communities, finalize schedules, and ensure our school receives the funding needed to provide the best possible educational experience for all students. We look forward to welcoming every Titan on the first day!

Open House

Tuesday, October 6th

5:30 pm –7:30 pm

As we continue “The Year We Build Together,” Open House is an opportunity for families and teachers to connect, strengthen partnerships, and work together to support every student's success.

Picture Day

Thursday, October 8th

Students will get their 2026-27 school picture taken during the school day.
