Greetings to our Thomas Families,
Family Conversations Matter
Thank you for taking the time to talk with your student about school and for reinforcing the importance of education at home. These conversations make a meaningful difference.
As a family, consider discussing what values such as lifelong learning, collaboration, character, and leadership mean in your home. When students hear and see these ideas supported by their families, it strengthens their confidence, motivation, and personal growth.
Working together, we can help students build strong foundations for success in school and in life.
State Testing in May
May is an important month for state assessments. All students will participate in the Smarter Balanced assessments in English Language Arts and Mathematics, and our eighth graders will also complete the Washington Comprehensive Assessment of Science.
Throughout the year, students have been building the knowledge and skills needed to be successful on these assessments. We believe that when students approach testing with confidence, a positive mindset, and a commitment to doing their best, they are capable of great success.
At Thomas, we hold high expectations and remain committed to supporting every student in reaching proficiency and beyond. Families can help by encouraging students to get a good night’s sleep, arrive at school on time, and give their best effort each day of testing.
Thank you for your continued partnership and support of our students.
