Greetings Thomas Families,
Welcome to our new and returning Titan students and families! We look forward to partnering with you to make this a successful and rewarding middle school experience for every student this coming 2026-2027 school year.
At Thomas Middle School, we are proud of our positive school culture where students are encouraged to demonstrate their best selves academically, socially, and personally. Our staff is committed to creating a safe, supportive, and engaging learning environment, and we appreciate the trust you place in us. Titan students truly are the best!
As you enjoy the summer together, I encourage you to set aside time for family conversations. Consider discussing what lifelong learning, collaboration, character, and leadership mean in your home. When students hear these values reinforced by their families, it strengthens their confidence, motivation, and personal growth. Together, we can help every student build a strong foundation for success.
As many of you know, I am retiring and will not be returning this fall. It has been an honor to serve as principal of Thomas Middle School for the past six years. I believe every child is born with unique, God-given gifts and talents and has the potential to achieve great things academically, socially, and personally. Parents and families have the greatest influence on their children's success, and your partnership has been invaluable throughout my time at Thomas.
Please join me in giving a warm welcome to our incoming principal. I know she will do an outstanding job leading Thomas into the future. Thank you for allowing me to be part of your children's educational journey. I wish each of you continued success, happiness, and many wonderful memories in the years ahead.

Character Focus: July & August – Appreciation
Our character word for July and August is Appreciation. Everyone benefits from encouragement and hearing words of gratitude and recognition. We invite you to partner with us by talking with your child about appreciation and modeling it at home.
Some simple conversation starters include:
-
"I appreciate you, Mom and Dad, because..."
-
"Thank you for helping our family."
-
"I appreciate how you work hard and show kindness."
These simple conversations help build strong relationships and positive character.
Finally, we extend our sincere appreciation to the military members and families serving at Joint Base Lewis-McChord and around the world. Thank you for your service and sacrifice.
Have a safe, restful summer, and best wishes for a fantastic school year ahead.
Thank you for allowing me to be part of the Thomas family. Serving as your principal has been one of the greatest honors of my career, and I will always cherish the memories we created together. Thomas Middle School will always hold a special place in my heart.
With heartfelt thanks,
Steve Seberson
